Enabling Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) in Hipcall

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an advanced security measure. Once enabled, you’ll need to provide two types of credentials when logging into Hipcall. Google Authenticator is supported.

  • To activate 2FA, go to the "Profile" section in the top-right corner and open the Two-Factor Authentication menu from the left sidebar.
  • Click the “Enable 2FA” button on the screen that appears.

  • 2FA is now active. You can scan the QR code using your phone’s authenticator app or use secure tools like KeePassXC to generate automatic verification codes.

Using Google Authenticator for 2FA

Google Authenticator adds an extra layer of security to your accounts by making unauthorized access more difficult.

1. Download the App

Install the Google Authenticator app from your phone’s app store:

2. Enable Two-Step Verification

  • Go to the Two-Factor Authentication menu in Hipcall.
  • Open the Google Authenticator app on your phone.
  • Tap Start or the + icon.
  • Choose Scan QR Code and scan the code shown on your computer screen.
  • If you can’t scan the QR code, manually enter the Setup Key shown on your screen into the app.

3. Enter the Verification Code

  • Google Authenticator will generate a 6-digit code that refreshes every 30 seconds.
  • Enter the current code from the app into the field on your computer screen.

4. Save Your Backup Codes

  • After enabling 2FA in Hipcall, you’ll receive a set of backup codes.
  • Store these codes securely. You can use them to log in if you lose access to your phone.
  • It’s recommended to save them in a secure password manager.

Using KeePassXC for 2FA

KeePassXC is an open-source password manager that securely stores your credentials. You can configure it to work with 2FA using TOTP.

How to Add TOTP to KeePassXC:

  • Launch KeePassXC and unlock your existing database with your master password.
  • Go to the password entry where you want to enable 2FA, right-click, and select Set up One-Time Password from the One-Time Password section.
