How to Add Telnyx Numbers to Hipcall

Telnyx is an international provider that allows you to purchase and use phone numbers from various countries. This guide explains how to configure Telnyx numbers in Hipcall.

Important Note
If you plan to send SMS as well as make calls via Telnyx, make sure to choose a number that supports SMS when purchasing.

Creating a New SIP Connection in Telnyx

Log in to the Telnyx portal and navigate to Real-Time Communications > Voice > SIP Trunking. Click the Create SIP Connection button in the top-right corner.

1 - Details

1. Choose a name like Hipcall TR, Hipcall Türkiye, or Hipcall UK depending on your region.
2. Set the Type to Credentials.

2 - Authentication and Routing

Telnyx will provide a default Username and Password.

3 - Configuration

Leave all settings as-is. No changes are required.

4 - Inbound

Telnyx sends numbers in formats like 90 instead of +90. Hipcall expects the + prefix.

1. Set both inbound format options to +E.164.

5 - Outbound

Configure outbound call settings:

1. Choose Default SIP Profile unless you have a custom setup.
2. Set Localization Country to match the country of your number (e.g., United States for a US number).

6 - Numbers

In this section, you link the number you purchased with the Telnyx connection you created. If you haven't purchased a number yet, you can skip this step and complete it later.

1. Link your purchased Telnyx number to the SIP connection you created.

• If you haven’t purchased a number yet, you can do this step later and assign it to Hipcall TR.

Adding the Telnyx Connection to Hipcall

To register your Telnyx number in Hipcall, you’ll need:

• Country of the number
• Phone number
• Time zone
• SIP username
• SIP password

Go to Settings > Phone System > Numbers > New Number

Number Details

1. Select the country using the flag icon.
2. Enter the number without country code or symbols (e.g., 5438856302).
3. Assign a meaningful name (e.g., London Office).
4. Choose the language for system-generated messages (e.g., busy tone).

Connection Details

1. Enter sip.telnyx.com as the host.
2. Use the SIP Username provided by Telnyx.
3. Use the SIP Password provided by Telnyx.

Do not use your Telnyx portal login credentials here. The SIP trunk credentials are separate.

Time Zone Setup

Select the correct time zone for your number.

• This affects call reports and working hour rules.
• For example, choosing Europe/London means your business hours will follow London time.

Choose based on your team’s location and seasonal time changes.

Testing

Once setup is complete, you can make and receive calls.

• Ensure users are assigned to the number for outbound calls.
• Check the default target for inbound calls to confirm routing.
